A short trip to Heddon's Mouth Bothy

Monday 23rd July 2017

A morning drive over to Ilfracombe for a lunch time visit.  Not visited Ilfracombe for a while, and sad to see that Venners Bakery had closed - used to love their cakes.  After a shop in town, we drove on down the coast to arrive in Heddon's Mouth and our bothy for the night.

After unpacking and meeting the peacocks we headed out for a walk along the coast path to Woody Bay - a fantastic walk with an old fort and lovely woodlands on the way...and even some rocks to climb on..........

........and some watering holes for Bill.....just what you need on a hot day!

Back at the bothy we had a lovely barbecue tea before heading to the Hunters Inn for a bed time pint.

Tuesday 24th July 2018

Being woken up by a peacock alarm clock was a new experience for us.  We wandered from the bothy to Heddon's Mouth for a bit of stone balancing on the beach.

Back to the bothy for breakfast before packing up and heading off for home, with a short diversion to walk up to Dunkery Beacon with fantastic views from the top today.

Then it was back home to unpack from this break and to re-pack for our Scottish break starting in the morning.......and a yummy Chinese takeaway to help celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary :)
