Visiting Dippy
26th to 27th March 2018

Monday 26th March 2018

A drive through Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire. After a quick woodland wander for Billy and a short stop off at Wareham we reached our destination of Worth Matravers.  A visit to the Square and Compass was a must for Pie and cider - it just had to be Kiss me Kate.

It even has their own fossil museum!

We walked from WorthMatravers and joined the coastpath at Chapman's Pool.  The views today were lovely.

We walked along the coast stopping at the Royal Marines Commando Memorial and St Aldhelm's Chapel.  We also passed the Coastguard lookout and the Radar Memorial.

We walked along to Winspit Quarry and then back to Worth Matravers to pick up the van and move onto Swanage.  After spending far too much in the walking shop we moved onto Durlston nature park.  A fantastic place with a castle, Great Globe, old mine workings and lots of old stone information boards - well worth a visit.

We walked along to Anvil Point Lighthouse before heading off to Dorchester for a Chinese and a night at Maidenhead Hill Fort.

Tuesday 27th March

A morning walk up to Maidenhead Hill Fort.  Then it was onto Dorchester to see Dippy at the Museum - brilliant.

On the way back to the car we were lucky enough to see an otter.

Then it was the journey back home to Taunton.
