Bryn Gwyn, Login, South Wales
Saturday 26th December
A boxing drive drive to South Wales. First stop off was the Park Run at Burnham on Sea. A drive across the Severn Bridge and into Wales. A food shop stop at Newport and a Snow and Rock Stop at the Outlet Village at Bridgend on the way. Arrived at the cottage mid afternoon - a lovely old cottage in the countryside - perfect!
Sunday 27th December
A circular dog walk with Bill around Login and it was back for breakfast. We drove to Dinas Head and did a circular walk with stunning views. Next stop Newport for an after walk ice cream. Last stop of the day was the Pentre Ifan burial chamber. Back to the cottage for some good food and a warm fire.
Monday 28th December
After a morning Billy loop we drove to the foot of Carrig Lladron with a windy walk up to the summit. We then split into groups with Sarah, Dave and Billy walking from the foot of Carrig Lladron and James and Kate moving the car to Foel Drygarn. We walked along the ridge of the Preseli Hills, meeting mid way for lunch. It was a drive home for an evening in front of the log burner.
Tuesday 29th December
After a morning dog walk in a different direction to find a cache we headed out to Poppet Sands for a fantastic beach walk - just fab! We stopped for lunch a Cardigan - a great chippy on the hill from the car park. Next stop was Mwnt - another beautiful bay and blustery hill top with a lovely church to visit too. Next stop was Aberporth and then onto Newcastle Emlyn to continue our loop back to the cottage. Log burner again.
Wednesday 30th December
After a windy, wet night due to storm Frank we headed out in the rain to Narbeth. Next stop was Tenby - a lovely walk along South Beach followed by lunch in town. Back to the cottage via Haverfordwest and a dry off in front of the fire.
Thursday 31st December
A morning trip to Strumble Head - wild, windy, wet and hail stones - wow! Next stop was a walk to Pwllcrochan beach. The tide was high so no beach access.
We then went into Fishguard for lunch before drying off back at the cottage whilst watching Up! Then it was out to Whitland for a New Years Eve Chinese from the Whitland Cafe - yum!
Friday 1st January 2016
Happy New Year! After a big fried breakfast we braved the winds to scale Foel Drygarn on the Preseli Hills. Back to the cottage for a last night in front of the wood burner.
Saturday 2nd January
Out early to drive to Llynl Lech Owain for a muddy Park Run followed by a homeward visit to Snow and Rock before crossing the Severn Bridge home.
