Saturday 27th Dec.
We sailed from Ardrossan on Saturday morning arriving in Brodick 55 minutes later. A lovely sunny day with snowy mountains greeting us.
A quick look around Brodick and then it was onto Corrie to find our cottage for the week - Wee Zephyr. Our home for the week was perfect for our family and canine friend, warm cozy and fantastically well equipped and in the most picturesque location.
We spent the afternoon exploring the caves above the cottage and having a walk along to Sannox and finding the harbour sheep on the way.
Sunday 28th Dec
A walk up to Goat Fell on a fantastic sunny day. Lots of snow and ice on the way up to the summit which the children and Bill enjoyed playing in.
The views on the way up were great and the views from the top were amazing! It was an icy walk back down to the cottage and Corrie but we made it with only a few bruises.
Monday 29th Dec
An explore of Corrie visiting the harbour sheep, seal rock and the doctors bath.
Then it was off to the North end of the Island stopping to see the seals at Sannox.
First stop was Lochranza and a walk around Newton Point past the Hutton unconformity to the Cock of Arran and on to the Ossians Cave. We then drove to Pirnmill stopping at the Sailor's Grave as we passed. Our last stop of the day were the standing stones at Machrie Moor.
Tuesday 30th Dec
A fantastic walk today up Glen Rosa to the Saddle. Lovely weather again today. We saw deer and golden eagles - fantastic.
We then dropped down to Glen Sannox down a very rocky path.
It was then a bus ride back into Brodick to pick up the van - a fantastic day out!
Wednesday 31st Dec
A drive over the string road and a stop at the post box.
Then it was on to King's Cave and a look at the wall art.
We then drove up to Thundergay and a walk up to Core-Finionn Lochan - well worth the steep climb!
New Year was spent at a ceilidh at the Corrie and Sannox village hall complete with fireworks, a bonfire and bagpipes seeing in the New Year.
Thursday 1st Jan
Happy New Year! A wet start to the year so we went waterfall hunting. We walked up Glenashdale falls - lots of water coming down today. We continued the walk around to Giant's Grave.
We then drove onto the waterfall at Easmor. We loved finding the library on the way back down the hill.
Friday 2nd Jan
A walk along the beach from Kildonan to the Black Caves.
Good views of Pladda and Ailsa Craig today when the sun was out - we had hail storms on the walk too!
Then it was a drive back round to the String Road and home to start packing up ready for the ferry and drive back home tomorrow.
